Remember when the iPhone cost a mortgage payment?
AT&T has recently started selling a refurbished iPhone 3G for $49. You have to get the two-year contract and you must keep the $30 per month data plan on the phone for life (something I would definitely try to talk my way out of).
The new 8-gig 3G costs $99 new without the data stipulation but it's still something to think about, an iPhone for under 50 bucks.
Now if only AT&T could offer a $99 everything plan like Sprint has for the excellent Palm Pre.

I think I will stick with my Blackberry and the Sprint Everything Plan. The coverage and service are much better. Although the customer service is lacking (competent native English-speaking reps, that is). I don't see what everyone is so geared up over the iPhone. It is geared more towards the teens and younger crowd. The Blackberry is a much better device, and geared towards business needs.
The Palm Pre is really lacking applications. Only six thus far.
I-Phones, blackjacks, blackberry....had them all and still go back to the extraordinary functionality and tank like structure of the treo 650.
Krusell makes a great case for it, the doodle app, threaded messaging, and fully tactile qwerty are incredible, and the large screen as well.
Mine in particular must have been made by angelic republicans, it never freezes and gets a great signal everywhere I need it to.
Its thickness, and heft is its only real downfall but it is like a wife of a given number years in that sense, solid and reliable.
Why on earth would anybody CHOOSE to be a Sprint customer? Sprint has pitiful customer service and even worse cellular service. Oh, but they have 3G. Why would I trust you with 3rd Generation technology when you can't get 1st Generation technology right?
Every cell carrier has positives and negatives, except Sprint. Sprint is all negatives.
Are you kidding? The iPhone leaves the Blackberry in the dust! There is absolutely no comparison. It's not just for teens. I am a professional working in sales. I also run my own business on the side and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my iPhone. There are so many helpful applications from receipts to organizational tools. Most of the apps are actually free. I have about 140 different ones on my 16G iphone and they barely take up any space. As far as I'm concerned, it is the greatest invention since the PC. Thanks Apple! AT&T's customer service rocks too!
