DirecTV adds MTV-HD in time for Bon Jovi

In a surprise launch, one day after it launched 11 new HD channels DirecTV continued with its plans to the HD leader.

The company launched another HDTV channel Wednesday morning.

MTV-HD is now channel 332 on DirecTV receivers.

Viewers can see the 2007 MTV Music Awards in HD tonight/tomorrow at 1 a.m. Other programming highlights include a hi-def Red Hot Chili Peppers concert and a Bon Jovi unplugged concert.

With DTV’s HD onslaught, we were all set to switch over from cable, but then we googled "DirecTV Review" and saw some stunning stuff. Apparently, their HD DVR is horrible – CNET user reviews are the worst for any product we've ever seen, and the horrid reviews are everywhere. Even the technical forums on DirecTV.com are filled with complaints, and DTV is basically ignoring the problem. I'm sure a lot of people will be looking to switch from cable, but this stopped us cold. If their HD DVR was reliable, we'd have already switched.

Hey, I have four HR20s and I must say I like them EONS better than the DISH box I used to have (622) and the old HD Tivo I traded in for one of my new D* units. I heared these when they came out were as unreliable as you say but D* has worked on them and updated them. They're fast and very realiable. I have like 25 season passes on mine. Never a miss.

MHD comes to Time Warner Cable Charlotte on 10/15.

but TWC has nowhere near the HD offerings that DirecTV has. I know. I had TWC until Sunday. The picture quality smokes TWC on the regular channels. On HD, it's not even close. So glad I'm gone and best of all, my bill is cheaper, too.

I agree. I just switched too (thanks Langston). DirecTV smokes cable in every way. My sound is better. My non-HD channels are EONS better. HDTV isn't closer. 41 channels to 10 or so.
