Pac Man turns 30 and gets on Google's home page, too

Quick, go hit google. You can play Pac-Man, for free, with your arrow keys. You can also play on your mobile phone.

Today is the 30th anniversary of one of the most simple -- and addictive -- video games of all time. Google says the Pac-Man demo, which is fully functional, will stay up for 48 hours.

If you tap the insert coin button twice, you can play Ms. Pac-Man at the same time by using the W-A-S-D keys for directional control.

Google says the game includes all 256 levels.

Have fun.

Note: To play on your mobile device, be sure to switch from "mobile" to "classic" view by toggling the control at the bottom of the Google page.

C*O*O*L

I use google as my search engine. I noticed Pac Man on there earlier but did my searches too fast to notice that you can play it!

I remember saving quarters in 1981 so that I could play Pac Man at the grocery store before I did my shopping.

Today's youth probably sneers at it and think it's boring, but, between it and Galaga, we had jumped light years ahead of Pong!

I haven't played many video games in my life, but Pac Man was the Man back in that day. Played it quite a bit.

Luv that game! I worked in the Atari Corporate offices in the early 80's. The game room was in the same building. I would play on all my breaks! time to go play now...

SWEET!

If I could have back half the money I blew on Pac Man, Ms Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Burger Time and Space Invaders in the '80s, I could buy a small country now.

Glad we'll have 2 days to jump back in time and enjoy the game.

I thank my teen-aged son for patiently teaching me to play Pac Man 30 years ago. Love you both!

There's software called MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) & it plays games called ROMs. It's all freeware. The processor in commercial video games was pretty much the same back then so people build the emulator & lots of others took the time reverse-engineer the machines ROMS (game instructions) & convert them to the PC. Googe it & enjoy! :)

This is cool! The inspiration for the creation of PacMan was a slice of a pizza! Tohru Iwatani, the game designer of Namco, went out for pizza and the rest, as they would say, is history. Did you know that? :D
