Verizon working on an iPhone launch ad?

Tech blog spot Crunch Gear reports on rumors of an ad agency already developing an ad for the launch of Apple's iPhone on Verizon's network later this year.

Apple is expected to unveil a new iPhone next month at a conference.

Many iPhone customers complain that AT&T's network is not very good, leading to dropped calls, slow internet connections and calls going directly to voicemail even when the phone shows full coverage.

Verizon claims it has the nation's best 3G network and many customers who want iPhones are loathe to leave Verizon for AT&T.

Rumors of iPhone coming to Verizon have circulated all year after speculation popped up that AT&T's exclusive contract with Apple is up this year, though some analysts believe that AT&T's special pricing for the iPad, offering cheap monthly rates with no contracts, was done to extend the exclusivity arrangement into 2011.

I seriously hope that Verizon offers an Iphone later this year. AT&T being the exclusive provider is the only reason why I've refrained from purchasing one. Had a Samsung Blackjack two years ago and put up with At&T's crappy coverage for far too long before switching over to Verizon. I can only hope that Verizon does something about their pricing structure though as it tends to be on the expensive side compared to Sprint & T-Mobile.

It was speculative before given the lack of independent confirmation, but now apparently Apple has gone on record to confirm that the original deal signed with AT&T for iPhone exclusivity back in 2007 was a five-year deal.

Probably one of the best kept tech-secret yet, however to think that for all these years potential consumers/costumers have been lead on… it somehow makes me wonder if that is a smart business practice?

Does't really matter as the Android based phones available on Verizon are far superior to the Iphone. An open OS with flash and full bluetooth functionality is far more useful than the locked up Iphone and restricted app development implemented by the very constipated Steve Jobs.
