A new PlayStation 3 with Dual Shock on the way?

According to industry gossip site Ars Technica, Sony is going to do away with the current 80 gig PlayStation 3 and release one with a larger hard drive and the new Dual Shock 3 controller.

The current PS3 has a wireless controller with no vibration feature, something many gamers miss.

I think that wouldn't be a bad move, so long as Sony doesn't blast the price back up and keeps the current cheaper 40 gig model.

What do we have now?
--20 GB SKU (hard drive too small when most games have a 2-4 gig install on them) $500
--60 GB SKU (high price point due to the emotion engine for backwards comp.) $600-$500
--80 GB SKU (gimped back. comp. more sensible hard drive, and game, but still too pricey) $600-$500
--40 GB SKU (NO back. comp., hard drive borderline too small, free movie) $400
--100/120 GB SKU (Unknown back. comp., good hard drive, dualshock, unknown pricepoint) $???
They need to get back to a 60-80GB range, throw out backwards comp., add the dualshock, not package with anything and release for $350 bucks. Then subsequently reduce the 40 GB to $300 to get rid of stock and finally put an end to all the different versions, and just concentrate on lowering the price of the technology to get their primary model in Wii like territory by the holidays.

Hey Langston, have you received word on when the HD-DVD sell off is starting? I see the players are already getting cleared out at BB and CC. How about the discs?
