TW Cable customers get ready for more HD

Time Warner Cable will launch more than 12 new HD channels by the end of the month, which it says will bring its total to more than 120 HD channels overall.

Guess Dish and DirecTV will have to find something else to pick on.

Beginning Thursday, TWC will light up Comedy Central HD, MTV HD, BET HD, VH1 HD, The Hub HD, 5 StarMax HD and Showtime Beyond HD

A complete list of HD offerings is at this link.

Well, first off, the link was useless since all it did was prompt me for my zip code and then took me to TWC's main page... no info.

Second, I have absolutely no interest in any of the channels cited in the story. In fact, I've programmed the standard def versions of most of them out of my TV Tuner already!

Like most of the 500+ channels Time-Warner pipes into my home I hold no interest in any of these.

The only "new" HD channels I want from TWC are HDNet and HDNet Movies, the latter of which is simply the best HD movie channel there is and is irreplaceable.

There was no excuse for TWC to take those channels away from us last year, and there is no excuse for them continuing to avoid getting them back in the lineup. NONE! Get it done TWC!!!

NFL Network!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I was thrilled to switch away from TWC for video services to DirecTV. Not only does DirecTV have HDNet and HDNet Movies, it has a far superior picture quality and better hardware than TWC.

Good to see Comedy Central HD will be available. Now NFL Network!

seriously? directv has had all those channels for over a yr now plus nfl network since its inception. screw "time wasted cable".

These are the Viacom channels they added. I'm quite happy with one channel I can NOT get on U-Verse or Direct TV and thats BBC America HD.
New Doctor Who in HD, priceless.

TWC is such crap. Just tonight I was online with their support asking about some pricing for an additional digital set top box. After being questioned on who my internet service provider was twice (I was online for digital tv only), and taking too long, I dug out a letter I got from TWC a month ago, and in black and white it spells out the cost of the 3rd box i wanted to consider. The 'support expert' on the other end of the support line was shoving numbers at me 3x the actual number. After getting my address and knowing the market I'm in, they still got it wrong.

And yes, I agree, they add so little value in this market. These channels are useless. So much junk, so overpriced. Pathetic.

Well its about dang time they got BET, MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central in HD. I can't believe it took them this long. TWC still sucks because there's no TV One HD or VH Soul or MTV Jams channels. And TWC still doesn't offer the NFL Network while Comcast and other cable providers do now. We need an alternative cable provider in Charlotte asap.

"This free advertisement to get more business and screw more customers with higher rates, brought to you in clearly crappy HD by Time Warner Cable"

Get a clue TWC, all you do is raise rates, and provide crappy customer service! Why do you think s00000many people have changed to other options like DISH?

Thank you TWC. Some of us appreciate what you do for Charlotte. I'd hate to see the thousands of jobs leave Charlotte if everyone is so unhappy here. But then again some people wine about everything.

I wish I could trust TWC, I might try them again. When I moved into this house 4 years ago, TWC had just taken over from Adelphia and the picture was crappy any time it rained. I called service 4 times, each time waiting on hold for 30-45minutes. They would not make a service appointment, I had to wait several days and take 1/2 day off work each time. They never found anything wrong since the lines had time to dry out. I called Directv, their installer found water in the junction box and installed a new one. No problems since. Last year TWC overlaid the part of our neighborhood that was mi-connection with a new, faster level of service, but my part still has the crappy Adelphia stuff and almost all the houses on my street still have satellite dishes.

Just wanted to say that as a DISH employee and customer I have access to the most HD in the industry, and as a qualified customer I can sign up for the Free HD For Life promotion on all the top packages.

and don't forget Dish and DirecTV customers can get crappy service when it rains or storms. I enjoy having my cable on all the time.

I just wanted to let everyone know the DISH has HDNet movies in there line up and is offered in the platinum HD package. I know that Time-Warner does not. As a DISH employee I know that we have the more HD stations than any other cable provider!
