Toyota to offer Prius to GM?

According to a Bloomberg article, Toyota is in apparent talks with GM to offer a version of its Prius hybrid car to the American automaker.

The report quotes anonymous sources who report that Toyota President Akio Toyoda and GM’s Fritz Henderson will meet in Michigan in August. A GM version of Prius could be built in California where GM is ending assembly of the Pontiac Vibe as part of its bankruptcy filing.

Toyota is considering the California plant as a Prius production site after shelving plans to make the gasoline-electric car in Mississippi, two people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg earlier this month.

The point is Prius owners are homos and they should be built for homos in CA by homos in CA.

TOYota won't build in good ol' Mississippi. They must have gotten bummed out by the burning crosses.

If GM hadn't destroyed the EV-1, then maybe they would be selling EVs to Toyota. What a twist of fate. Hope it was all worth it Detroit gentlemen.

Perfect fit. Acorn Boy takes over GM and now they can build cars that will not sell w/o use the loser tax payers bailing out the union in the form of huge rebates and garuntees. It's a good thing the smart people are in the Oral Office now, it just feels so right.

"Oh, sure, GM. You can have the crappiest car we make! Where do we sign?"

Why would anybody want to buy a crappy American knock off of a Toyota instead of buying the real thing?

No wonder pathetic American junk like GM and Chrysler went bankrupt! Let dinosaurs die.

If American cars didn't suck so bad, GM and Chrysler wouldn't have FAILED so miserably.

Toyota needs to put their boot on GM's neck and finish off that pathetic company and their redneckmobiles.

Lead, follow, or file for bankruptcy and whine like a little b*1tch for a bailout, GM and Chrysler!

I would say, do we look like we want to build a hybrid? A volt plug-in electric suits us just fine.

The EV-1 was the world's worst car. I would rather drive a Yugo. I test drove an EV-1 once. As for this story, what's the point. Are people clamoring for a GM Prius? Why wouldn't they just buy one from Toyota?

FYI: GM and Toyota have been building cars at the same plant for years.....Ever noticed that the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe look remarkably similar ? That's because they are built at the same plant in California.

My wife and I were laughing all the way to the bank with the up to 50 MPH in a hybrid (a competitor to the Prius) especially when gas was more than $4/gallon. We also didn't have to sit in the long lines during the gas shortage last summer.

I just hope the GM version will have a different body style. The only thing I don't like about the Prius is the way it looks. To me the design is a combination of the VW Beetle and the Pontiac Aztec.

I had the unfortunate displeasure of having to drive a Prius on a business trip since that was the only car Budget had left. WHAT A JOKE! This thing rides like a conestoga wagon. You have to Flintstone it to get up a hill, and the engine sounds like Isabelle Sanford after a carton of menthols. If GM takes this deal, it will be yet another dumb decision in a sea of stupidity. And I'm not a car snob, btw. I drive a Honda Civic. Can't get much more bland than that.

- Perfect example of how an insecure person feels and behaves when everything they believed in is failing and dying. From their close-minded approach tto business, transportation, & to the environment have all failed.
The defiant nature of the customer and the company who refused to adapt to the changing competition has dropped the soap
Well sir, you got your big manly butt kicked by "homos". In the end the "homos" and their ingenuity & superior ideas and business model had to bailout your failure.
How does that feel?

Part of the connection here is that the Pontiac Vibe has been a twin of the Toyota Matrix, so it makes sense that GM could build a Prius twin with barely more than minor cosmetic changes and give it some catchy name. Not a bad deal all around as it allows for another outlet for hybrids.

So now the American auto company's best chance of survival is to COPY the Japanese?

What irony.

Unless someone builds an electric car that gets 1000 to 2000 miles on a charge and takes 30 minutes or less to recharge,FORGET IT!!!
